WOW Assignment

See the exciting Web 2.0 applications we used to promote 21st Century Learning Skills.
Teach Me Chemistry

*What is the TITLE of your final product? Teach Me Chemistry

*What is the FINAL QUESTION your product answers. Design a presentation using Web 2.0 tools and applications to teach your peers a specific topic in chemistry.

*What would you have learned as a student about the content? (The "stuff" you would be trying to teach your students by having them complete this project.)

In the specific examples provided we demonstrated knowledge of vocabulary terms associated with matter. We connected the definitions with examples and further divided these properties into categories based on size of the substances.

In general, we first previewed the material from the chosen textbook section. We then created a priority list of information that needed to be communicated to our peers. Once this planning stage was accomplished, we did research and gathered images pertaining to the topic. We had to have an understanding of the topic in order to convey the information to the class.

TEKS Chemistry - Science concepts. The student knows the characteristics of matter. The student is expected to:

(A) differentiate between physical and chemical properties of matter;

*What did you learn as teachers in this workshop?

We were introduced to new cloudware applications. We shared with other teachers learning experiences with technology in the classroom. It is always nice to see what others are doing with the available resources. We have a new found motivation to create a paperless classroom. We gained confidence in the usefulness of the technology in conveying the measurable learning. We also, learned how easy it truly is to differentiate.

*List every tool used to create the product and the web address of the tool.

Collaboration

We collaborated using two applications.

We used Wikispaces to communicate ideas with one another and we used Diigo to share resources of bookmarks and annotated webpages as friends within Diigo.
